Connor Crumpton walks the congregation through John 6, showing how the famous feeding of the 5,000 becomes the setup for Jesus’ deeper claim to be the ‘bread of life.’ The crowd follows Jesus for signs and provision (their bios), but Jesus calls them to believe in him for zoe - eternal, abundant life - a single work God requires. When Jesus claims divine identity and speaks of eating his flesh and drinking his blood, many who chased miracles turn away. The disciples, however, respond differently: Peter declares, “To whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Connor presses the audience to identify whether they are miracle-chasers or disciples and to respond by trusting Jesus’ words, not only his signs.

Take it with you
Ask yourself whether you are following Jesus for signs (provision, comfort) or for his words (life). The one work God requires is belief in Jesus - not additional religious performance. Remember communion and Jesus’ sacrifice as the means by which his life sustains ours; live by his words daily, not by chasing the next miracle. If you find yourself only drawn to signs, take the invitation to 'come and see' and move toward trusting his words.
