Life: What's the Point?

This is the first message in a 21-week series through the Gospel of John. The preacher frames John's purpose: the gospel was written so people would believe that Jesus is the Messiah and have life through him. He emphasizes Jesus' preexistence (the Word was with God and was God), that we were created on purpose, and that true life and identity are found in Christ. The sermon highlights John the Baptist as a witness pointing people to Jesus, calls believers to share the gospel, and challenges listeners to make Jesus Lord of every part of life.

“"These are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the son of God, and that by believing in him, you will have life by the power of his name."” · Noah Herrin

Take it with you

Practical takeaways: 1) Read Scripture to know the real Jesus - John identifies Jesus with the Word. 2) Share the gospel: commit to telling one person your testimony this week. 3) Examine areas where you make yourself the main character and surrender them so Jesus is Lord of all.
