Why Am I Anxious?

Noah Herrin preaches from John 14 to answer why Christians are often anxious. He explains Jesus' opening command, “Don't let your hearts be troubled,” and argues that persistent anxiety is inconsistent with trusting Christ. Herrin emphasizes trust as demonstrable action (not just belief), staying in God's presence for joy, and the promise that Jesus prepares a real place (heaven) and sends the Holy Spirit to dwell in believers. He warns against reducing Jesus to a means to personal goals and calls listeners to practical trust - prayer, Scripture, giving, and persevering for the ‘one more’ who needs the gospel.

“"There is more than enough room in my Father's home... there are many rooms in his house" (Jesus prepares a place; keep praying for the one more)” · Noah Herrin

Take it with you

When anxiety appears, identify the specific area you aren't trusting God with and take a concrete action of trust (pray, surrender plans, give, keep praying for the lost). Prioritize staying in God's presence daily - regular Scripture reading and prayer - not just occasional talks or sermons. Remember the promise of the Spirit dwelling in believers and that Jesus prepared a real place for us, which reframes earthly worries.
